I have been on a FREE day and it gets crowded, but my toddler didn't seem to mind.   I would recommend going if it is your first time on a free day since there is nothing to loose, but for a more relaxed time go on a weekday.
 
We loved the Shadow Box!  My son loved the trains and live animals.
 
Take your lunch and have a picnic on the park that is right next door.

On every other Saturday @ 10am Lowe's has a build and grow workshop for kids.

Once you enter your zip code it will prompt you for the locations that are still available.

The first 50 kids to register and be present at the store at 10am will receive a kit, aprons, and googles.

Chino Youth Museum is FREE on the First Friday of every month 3pm - 5pm.  They provide entertainment and a snack.

FREE Noah's Ark @ the Skirball

It is FREE every Thursday, but you have to get reservations online. Parking is FREE.

Everything is hands on! I was so amazed by the art of creating these animals with regular items that we would normally throw away. They have a fun climbing section (4 an older or with an adult) that the kids loved, a craft table to create your own recycled animal, and a cute mist machine outside that creates rainbows. What is great about the reservations is that it doesn't get crowded. There is no fighting your way through an exhibit and a parent can just relax and enjoy.

Discovery Science Center new exhibit Sesame Street the Body.  It is an interactive exhibit all about the human body.

Sesame Street the Body comes to Discovery Science Center on January 29th thru May 1st.
